A Message from Kevin Stevenson, President & CEO on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

An open letter to all PRA Group employees:

In my June 3rd communication regarding the recent events of racial injustice, I wrote that “I can, and will, ensure PRA is a place of diversity, fairness, and inclusion – not just today, but every day, day in and day out, hour after hour.” I also asked you to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with me directly.

Since then, I have received many comments, and I have been a part of many open and honest conversations with you, and I want to thank you for sharing your points of view with me. Your feedback, and your willingness to give that feedback, makes me proud to be a part of PRA and confirms my belief that PRA is home to a team of thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged employees

I appreciate the many suggestions you have provided to me. I’ve received a wide range of responses, largely centered around two themes:

1) Your interest in PRA forming a more comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion Committee to include employee interest and focus groups, and

2) Your encouragement for PRA to provide additional assistance to organizations that support the communities in which we live and work.

You may be aware that in late 2018, we developed a diversity and inclusion focus group to better understand and further improve our company culture. To date, this effort has largely been a collaboration between Corporate Communications and Human Resources focused on planning, training, and initiating conversations across the organization, as well as creating communications that celebrate and acknowledge our diversity. It is clear to me that we need to evolve this existing group into a Diversity and Inclusion Committee. This committee will be representative of our employees, and it will have a materially broader scope.

Additionally, under the leadership of Katie Jones, our Chief Human Resources Officer, we are in the midst of recruiting a diversity and inclusion leader. This newly-created position will serve as a champion, and subject matter expert committed to creating a culture of inclusion at PRA, and will ensure that these principles, practices, and processes are embedded across the organization.

We have also expanded our philanthropic and volunteer focus to support organizations that reach those in our community that need us the most, particularly during the pandemic. Over the past few months, we have committed to assisting the Old Dominion University Student Food Pantry, the Samaritan House, the United Way, and the Food Bank, to name a few. There will be much more to come in this area, and future efforts will include direct involvement by our newly formed Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

In short, I want you to know that I have heard you and I hope you understand my resolve. I want PRA to not just talk about making a difference, or just write a check and take a few photos, rather, I want PRA’s resources and our people’s time and talent to go out and be part of making a real difference. Please, keep your ideas and thoughts coming my way, and we will keep you updated on the company’s progress as well.

Thank you for all you are doing to support our customers, our communities, and each other.

We are one company, one team, worldwide.
