PRA Group Donates $100,000 to the Foodbank’s BackPack Program
Global Company’s Gift Will Provide Over 10,000 Backpacks of Meals
NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 13, 2021 – PRA Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRAA), a global leader in acquiring and collecting nonperforming loans, donated $100,000 to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore in support of the nonprofit’s BackPack Program.
The BackPack Program supplies children and their families with backpacks full of nutritious, non-perishable and easy-to-prepare food over weekends and holidays when they do not have access to school meals. PRA Group’s gift will directly provide 10,362 backpacks to over 50 elementary schools this year.
“With the BackPack Program, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to support the long-term success of children in our community by ensuring they receive the sustenance they need to concentrate, play, and grow in body and mind,” said Kevin Stevenson, president and CEO of PRA Group. “The BackPack Program’s weekly nourishment makes this possible for more than 3,400 children each year. We are thankful to the Foodbank for this truly incredible feat of service, and for all its work to remove barriers of food insecurity so these children can be their best.”
“In a community where 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children face the struggle of food insecurity daily, the generous, long-term support of sponsors like PRA Group is essential to our work,” said Dr. Ruth Jones Nichols, president and CEO of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. “We are grateful for PRA Group’s enduring partnership and support of our mission to eliminate hunger in the 11 cities we serve.”
Since 2009, PRA Group has contributed more than $7.8 million to charitable causes dedicated to strengthening the health, well-being and vitality of the communities where its employees live and work across the globe. In addition to financial contributions, PRA Group encourages employee volunteerism through organized volunteer opportunities throughout the year as well as paid volunteer time.
“As the last year and a half have reinforced through varying degrees of forced absence, the personal connections we make with people and causes are invaluable drivers of change for good,” said Stevenson. “The PRA family has always loved participating in food drives and volunteering at the Foodbank. While COVID-19 has made in-person volunteer opportunities a challenge, especially as many of our employees continue to work remotely, we are eager to volunteer with the Foodbank soon.”
