PRA Group Partners with the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art to Present the Summer of Women

NORFOLK, VA — Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (Virginia MOCA) has opened the Summer of Women, a new series of exhibitions that aim to empower women by amplifying their voices through art. The exhibitions launched with a virtual opening reception including an address from Gary Ryan, director and CEO of Virginia MOCA, a welcome from presenting sponsor PRA Group, and educational presentations from contributing artists.

The Summer of Women consists of three distinct exhibitions, each of which provides a unique perspective and intersectionality. She Says: Women, Words and Power features words as the foundation of art; Amplify focuses on the regional experience of women-identifying artists from Virginia, the District of Columbia, North Carolina and Maryland; and Lauren Keim: Everyday Magic consists of photography that captures the ordinary, yet beautiful moments so often missed in daily life.

“The Summer of Women exhibition spoke to us because it works to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a woman in today’s world, especially at a time when women truly need support given the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on their lives and livelihoods,” said Connie O’Brien, PRA Group’s senior vice president of digital operations. “PRA Group is incredibly proud of not only this exhibition, but all the work the Museum is doing to foster empathy and understanding.”

Summer of Women will be on display at Virginia MOCA through October 24th. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge.

“We are so grateful to partners like PRA Group, whose support enables Virginia MOCA to make vibrant and diverse voices accessible to the public eye, thereby furthering our mission of cultivating an appreciation of our shared humanity through the presentation and guided exploration of exceptional contemporary artwork,” said Ryan.

Since 2009, PRA Group has contributed more than $7.8 million to charitable causes dedicated to strengthening the vitality of communities. A pillar of that giving is PRA’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging by working together to build an equitable and inclusive culture—where everyone is free to be themselves and be their best.
