Elizabeth Kersey Featured in McGuireWoods’ Women in Public Affairs to Know

This month in McGuireWoods’ Women in Public Affairs to Know series, PRA Groups Vice President of Communications and Public Policy, Elizabeth Kersey spoke about leadership, mentorship and tackling difficult situations.

Currently serving as the Vice President of Communications and Government Relations, Elizabeth Kersey has an extensive amount of experience in the Government Relations industry (sector or field). Prior to her role at PRA Group, Mrs. Kersey worked as the Assistant to the President for Local, State, and Federal Government Relations at Old Dominion University. She was also the Director of State and Federal Government Relations for the City of Hampton. Elizabeth also served as the Director of Communications and Government Relations for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

Throughout her career journey, Elizabeth has obtained many definitions of success. Noting that her definition of success during this moment in her career is being a good leader to the next generation coming up behind her.

Elizabeth’s motivation for tackling difficult situations matured over time. Understanding that we all make mistakes, her biggest motivation is being able to look at difficult situations as opportunities to “keep an eye towards how to do better next time and keep that particular situation from happening again”.

As far as accomplishments, Mrs. Kersey has received many. Her biggest accomplishment however comes from fostering long term relationships and how she does her job. It means so much to Elizabeth when she is viewed by her colleagues as someone who is “credible in our business”.
