PRA Group Gets in the Holiday Spirit with Worldwide Year-End Giving Initiatives

PRA Group offices around the world have come together this holiday season to make a difference in their communities. This time of year offers even more opportunities for our teams around the world to get involved firsthand, from donation drives to volunteer events. Here are some ways our global colleagues have helped spread holiday cheer this season:

Festive Jumpers Around the Office for Save the Children

Our European colleagues donned festive attire to make a difference while spreading joy during their Charity Holiday Jumper Day. For every photograph PRA Group received of an employee wearing a holiday jumper or sweater, the company donated to Save the Children, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing education and protection programs in more than 100 countries around the world. The donation drive ended up with 190 photos of employees in their fun and festive jumpers, all of which raised a total of 1,000 euros ($1,035) in a single day for Save the Children.

Playing Santa for Local Children in Need with Caritas

Our team in Germany spread holiday cheer at a children’s shelter managed by Caritas near our office in Duisburg, Germany. The shelter is home to nearly 70 children, all of whom wrote letters to Santa asking for everything from sports equipment to tech gadgets and theme park tickets. Our team granted their wishes by purchasing the gifts, then lent their gift-wrapping talent to add festive cheer. They even constructed a homemade advent calendar with 24 smaller gifts with which the children could count down to the holidays.

Giving Back by Giving Gifts through Adopt-A-Teen

PRA Group’s team in Jackson, Tennessee, joined in on the holiday shopping fun when they partnered with their local Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse for their annual Adopt-A-Teen initiative. Each PRA Group employee was paired with a child who had written a holiday wish list, and they shopped until those lists were filled. A heartwarming and handwritten letter from the children involved spelled out just how much of an impact their gifts had at the center.

Spreading Cheer with The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program

Our office in North Richland Hills, Texas, teamed up with the Tarrant County Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program to “adopt angels” and sponsor the wish lists of 19 children. Our colleagues worked in teams to provide clothes, toys, and school supplies so that each child will have everything they asked for under the tree this holiday season.

Our team in Burlington, North Carolina, participated in the same program locally with Alamance County Salvation Army. After shopping for each “angel,” our colleagues wrapped and bagged up all the gifts before dropping them off under the tree to be unwrapped by local children in need of holiday cheer.

PRA Group’s team in Hutchinson, Kansas joined in as well, serving as a co-sponsor for a local “Adopt-A-Child” event that provided gifts for more than 200 children in the Hutchinson area.

Getting the Neighborhood in the Spirit with Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre

PRA Group employees in London, Ontario, Canada, harkened the holiday spirit with a tradition of investing in their community. They held their Annual Holiday Charitable Giving Initiative for Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre, a nearby non-profit community center that provides support programs for local families. The team was able to raise over $1,760, a massive show of support that will make a meaningful impact this time of year.

Holidays at our Headquarters with United Way

Members of PRA Group’s communications and public policy team visited the United Way of South Hampton Roads to wrap gifts as part of the nonprofit’s annual Holiday Extravaganza, which benefits families enrolled in United Way’s economic mobility programs. Each year, United Way collects family wish lists and coordinates with sponsors to fill them.

From wrapping parties to holiday sweaters and fundraising, initiatives like these add a personal touch and a wonderful opportunity for PRA Group colleagues to engage with their local communities during the season of giving!
