PRA Group Donation Helps Bring 50th Anniversary Neptune Festival Mural to Life

NORFOLK, Va., Aug. 27, 2024 – In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival, PRA Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRAA), a global leader in acquiring and collecting nonperforming loans, is proud to serve as the co-presenting sponsor of the city’s new “Celebration of Beach Life” mural. The mural was unveiled in a commemorative ceremony on Friday, Aug. 23.

The mural, located on the side of the Coastal VET building on 30th Street in Virginia Beach, Va., is meant to showcase the rich history of the oceanfront and the role the Neptune Festival has played over the last 50 years. On Friday, Neptune Festival partners helped Virginia Beach native and mural artist Devon Miller put the finishing touches on her artwork, including PRA Group Vice President of Global Communication and External Affairs Giovanna Genard.

“It was an honor to be part of the unveiling of Virginia Beach’s newest public art mural, commemorating the 50th anniversary of a nonprofit organization as special and historic as Neptune Festival,” said Genard. “Coastal Virginia is the home of PRA Group’s global headquarters and we are thrilled to play a role in advancing the arts by supporting Neptune Festival and Devon Miller’s creation of this historic mural which will be enjoyed by visitors from around the globe.”

Neptune Festival is responsible for producing over 40 community events each year, including the International Sand Sculpting Championships, attended by nearly 400,000 people annually. The festival commissioned Miller to design and paint a mural that is reflective of the festival’s heritage, as a celebration of Virginia Beach and its citizens. The mural was paid for by donations from PRA Group and the Virginia Arts & Humanities Commission.

Miller is a lifelong Virginia Beach resident and attended the annual Neptune Festival for most of her life. She participated in the Neptune Festival Youth Art Show when she was in high school. Now she teaches art at First Colonial High School.

“My ‘Celebration of Beach Life’ design is a mash up of a few different things that come to mind when I think of the Neptune Festival. I’ve represented the International Sand Sculpting Championship through the large sandcastle, the wine festival is featured with the clinking glasses, and the Art & Craft Show is shown through the painting hands and collage/craft-inspired cloud placement,” said Miller. “I’ve also pulled some music notes throughout the skyline to give a feeling of celebration, giving a nod to the live music during Boardwalk Weekend and the Symphony by the Sea Concert Series. The people, volunteers, musicians, artists, attendees, and everyone that plays a part in making the Neptune Festival happen are just as important as the festivities themselves – so the hands are my way of representing the people who bring it all together.”
