PRA Group Celebrates Back to School Season with Supply Drive for WHRO

PRA Group employees collect more than 150 school supply items for teachers and students in the Norfolk, Va., area.

NORFOLK, Va., Aug. 29, 2024 – Back to school season is here and over the summer, PRA Group employees worked to support teachers and students alike with a virtual school supply drive.  An Amazon wish list was shared with employees at PRA Group’s sites across the U.S. that included bookbags, notebooks, pencils and other supplies students need for the school year. All items purchased were delivered to the company’s global headquarters in Norfolk, Va., and then donated to WHRO Public Media, a nonprofit public media station serving Coastal Virginia.

WHRO distributed a total of more than 150 items, to schools using the PBS Kids Raising Readers Literacy Vans. The supplies were delivered to Saunders Elementary and St. Helena’s Elementary, located in Newport News and Norfolk, Va., respectively. PRA Group is a longtime sponsor of WHRO and their literacy efforts. This is the second time this year that PRA Group has collaborated with WHRO, having donated more than 100 books in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of service.

“It’s such an honor to be able to partner with WHRO for projects like this,” said Lance Davis, PRA Group Director of Global Procurement, who helped to bring the drive together. “They have such a passion for what they do and it’s amazing being able to see the direct impact that they have on the students and teachers in the community where we live and work.”

This school supply drive is the latest in a series of outreach initiatives by PRA Group. Earlier this summer, the global finance company hosted a global beach cleanup, where colleagues coordinated volunteer workdays and other charitable activities to improve the conditions at beaches near each of PRA Group’s sites around the world.
