PRA Group Executive Speaks to West Virginia Educators About Credit to Kick Off Financial Literacy Month

NORFOLK, VA – PRA Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRAA), a global leader in acquiring and collecting nonperforming loans, joined West Virginia University’s (WVU) Center for Financial Literacy and Education (CFLE) to share strategies to achieve financial health with West Virginia educators during the nonprofit’s Finance University Spring Boot Camp leading into Financial Literacy Month.

The boot camp was a weekend event held at Snowshoe Resort, during which PRA Group’s Executive Vice President, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer Laura White spoke to the importance of understanding and managing credit.

According reports by FINRA Investor Education Foundation, four in five American children lack basic knowledge associated with financial literacy. During Spring Boot Camp, White and other presenters worked to pass on valuable information to over 30 educators, who will share it with students for years to come.

“Helping students build a solid foundation of financial literacy has the potential to influence not only their lives, but also the lives of their families for generations,” said White. “In our line of business, we see people struggling with debt firsthand. We are thrilled to be partners of the CFLE because we recognize that the pathway to financial health begins with education, and we are committed to being part of the solution.”

White’s presentation utilized real-life scenarios to help educators illustrate the consequences of bad credit and the benefits of good credit. She emphasized key strategies for maintaining healthy credit, such as starting to build credit scores early, responsible borrowing, fact-checking credit reports and paying off bills on time.

WVU’s CFLE is part of the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, of which PRA Group is a corporate sponsor. Learn more about the partnership here: www.pragroup.com/finlit
