PRA Group Joins Junior Achievement for Financial Literacy Month Panel

NORFOLK, VA – PRA Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRAA), a global leader in acquiring and collecting nonperforming loans, joined community partner Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads (JA) for the nonprofit’s monthly Digital Career Speaker Panel to discuss financial literacy and the finance industry.

JA is committed to positively impacting young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as critical life skills. Their programming centers on proven lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness and business ownership. With the onset of the pandemic, JA began its Digital Career Speaker Panel to engage students safely while still providing them with the opportunity to connect with volunteers about their experiences and identify role models.

The financial literacy and finance industry panel, held during Financial Literacy Month, was comprised of four panels held throughout the day. Volunteers from PRA Group took the virtual stage for two of them.

Mike Evans, director of financial planning and analysis, explained his work managing the corporate budget process, creating financial models and working on global projects. He was followed by Leo Salinas, assistant vice president of operations strategy, whose experience ranges from economics to fraud and credit risk management. Both shared insights about the industry and their respective educational journeys, career trajectories and professional development.

They also spoke to students about the critical role financial literacy holds in understanding credit, fraud protection and planning for the future.

“As part of a company that deals with debt every day, we see how important financial literacy education is because we know some of these challenges could have been avoided if more consumers had a basic understanding of strategies for credit health,” said Evans.

“PRA Group is committed to being part of the solution, so we are grateful to JA for all its work and incredible opportunities to support them in making an impact,” added Salinas.

Since 2009, PRA Group has contributed nearly $9.5 million to charitable causes dedicated to strengthening the vitality of communities across the globe.
