Virginia MOCA and PRA Group Volunteers Join to Clean Marsh and Enjoy Art Focused on Environmental Impact

NORFOLK, Va., Mar. 27, 2024 — PRA Group colleagues joined the Virginia Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and Lynnhaven River NOW to clean up the Virginia MOCA grounds and nearby marsh. With a group of over a dozen volunteers, they collected more than 400 pounds of litter in only two hours.

Before the cleanup, PRA Group volunteers had the opportunity to tour the Mark Dion and Alexis Rockman: Journey to Nature’s Underworld exhibition, of which PRA Group is the presenting sponsor. Intended to educate viewers on the impact we have on the environment, the exhibition provided context also for the positive impact the volunteers would soon have as they worked to protect the marsh ecosystem.

“The art was a fascinating illustration of how people both admire the beauty in nature and take it for granted,” said PRA Group Community Engagement Specialist Jillian Talley. “It was heartening to see how we can help preserve that beauty, one step at a time, and then to be a part of that effort with a cleanup.”
