Spring Into Action: PRA Group Volunteers Make a Lasting Impact
Throughout the year, PRA Group organizes a variety of volunteer opportunities for our employees, allowing them to contribute in a meaningful way to the communities in which we work and live. This spring, we worked with our nonprofit community partners to bring our Spring Into Action initiative to life.
Spring Into Action is an opportunity to promote volunteerism across our global workforce and allow employees from different departments to connect while making a meaningful difference through hands-on community service.
Fighting Food Insecurity: Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore and RIFA Jackson

Through two separate volunteer outings at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, PRA Group employees spent hours packing more than 200 food parcels for families in need. Our team worked to sort, organize and package nutritious food items, all the while gaining a deeper understanding of the impact food insecurity has in Coastal Virginia. In the area surrounding PRA Group’s global headquarters, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore estimates more than 150,000 people are food insecure — about 1 in 8 people.
Our colleagues in Jackson, Tenn., joined our fight against global hunger by volunteering with RIFA Jackson, a longstanding partner of PRA Group’s operations in the central U.S. More than 30 colleagues made their way to RIFA’s Jackson food bank to pack food parcels for their Snack Backpack program, which serves underprivileged children in the greater Jackson area.
Spreading Smiles: Supporting Operation Smile’s Mission

This spring, volunteers spent a day at Operation Smile and had the opportunity to sew and pack “Smile Bags.” The bags are given to patients undergoing cleft condition surgeries around the world. They serve as care packages and contain personal hygiene items, small toys and a mirror, so that the children can admire their brand-new smiles. Volunteers also took part in a tour, giving them valuable insight into how the medical mission of Operation Smile helps transform lives.
Environmental Stewardship: Chesapeake Bay Foundation Cleanup and Clean the Bay Day

PRA Group has been a longtime supporter of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, helping to protect the Chesapeake Bay watershed. It’s one of the most vital ecosystems on the East Coast, as it is home to more than 18.5 million people in Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. PRA Group proudly served as title sponsor of the 36th Annual Clean the Bay Day on June 7, continuing our years of support for the annual event. Volunteers gathered in several locations along the Bay’s waterways to remove litter and debris. In a separate volunteer outing, more PRA Group colleagues donated their time and energy to collect oyster shells. Those shells are recycled into habitats for millions of oysters planted in the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers.
Supporting the Arts: Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art Site Cleanup

An employee volunteer outing at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach, Va., demonstrates our company’s commitment to supporting local art and cultural institutions. PRA Group colleagues joined volunteers from across the region to maintain the cleanliness around the museum. The site cleanup helps ensure this community resource remains beautiful and welcoming, allowing museum staffers to focus resources on important and educational programming.
Lending a Helping Hand: United Way, Jackson Animal Care Center and American Heart Association

Our participation in the United Way Day of Action at Douglass Park Elementary School in Portsmouth, Va., created an opportunity for PRA Group volunteers to support a local Title I school by participating in a beautification project. Volunteers laid down new mulch, raked leaves and planted flowers. We are proud to be longtime community partners of United Way and have participated in United Way of South Hampton Roads’ Day of Action and Day of Caring for many years.
Our colleagues in Jackson, Tenn., showed their commitment to the community by assisting the Jackson Animal Care Center during their move to a new building, helping to load and unload items to ease the transition for the center and its animals. Jackson Animal Care Center provides humane care for homeless or sick animals and supports the community by offering rehabilitated, healthy pets for adoption.
In support of the American Heart Association, our colleagues in Burlington, N.C., volunteered to set up the Triad Heart Ball in April. The gala helps raise critical funds for the American Heart Association. Volunteers helped place signage, arrange the auction area and prepare the ballroom to ensure the event’s success in promoting heart health and education.
Investing in the Community: Our Global Impact

In May, PRA Group employees in Italy volunteered with Banco Alimentare, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger by reducing food waste. These volunteers prepared food parcels for distribution to those experiencing food insecurity in the community surrounding our Milan office.
In Duisburg, Germany, our colleagues generously gave of their time to support Immersatt e.V., a nonprofit that helps provides educational support, food and other resources to children in need. During a “Bring Your Family to Work Day” event, our team raised money to purchase school supplies and backpacks.
In honor of Arbor Day and the crucial role trees play in our ecosystem, our colleagues across Europe and Australia contributed to the Forest of PRA Group. By encouraging colleagues to share photos of their favorite trees, the company facilitated the planting of nearly 300 trees — one for each photo shared. Since 2021, our partnership with Tree-Nation has resulted in the planting of more than 1,200 trees in the Forest of PRA Group, offsetting an estimated 170 tons of carbon dioxide and supporting reforestation efforts.
The Impact of Volunteerism
Our Spring Into Action initiative strengthened bonds among employees and deepened our connection to the communities we serve. It builds on our company’s longstanding commitment to encourage volunteerism and community engagement. In 2024 alone, PRA Group proudly donated more than $930,000 and 2,500 employee volunteer hours to support more than 120 nonprofit organizations across the globe.
