PRA Group Volunteers Make a Lasting Impact Through Day of Caring

NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 15, 2025 – As a longtime partner of United Way of South Hampton Roads, PRA Group is proud to once again participate in United Way’s Day of Caring, an annual initiative that mobilizes volunteers to strengthen communities through service.

This year, more than a dozen PRA Group volunteers based out of our global headquarters in Norfolk, Va., rolled up their sleeves to support the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore and the Virginia Beach SPCA

Fighting Hunger in Coastal Virginia

PRA Group volunteers visited the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to pack bags for the BackPack Program, which provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to children and families who may not have access to adequate meals on weekends and school breaks. These efforts directly support the food bank’s mission to eliminate hunger in Coastal Virginia.

Caring for Homeless Animals

At the Virginia Beach SPCA, volunteers assisted staff by helping clean and reorganize their storage facilities. This allows staff members to attend to the daily needs of the animals. Each year, VBSPCA provides shelter and care to approximately 1,800 homeless companion animals.

Strengthening the Community Through Volunteerism

Both the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore and the Virginia Beach SPCA emphasize the critical role volunteers play in their daily operations and long-term impact. For PRA Group, these hands-on experiences are a powerful reminder that small actions can lead to meaningful change.

“Volunteering together not only strengthens our community, but it also strengthens our team,” said Shelley Kagel, PRA Group vice president, project management office. “We’re proud to support organizations that make a lasting impact in the lives of people and animals across Hampton Roads.”

Each year, PRA Group supports charitable organizations across the world as part of our commitment to improve the communities where we live and work. We offer volunteer time off, organize regular opportunities for employees to volunteer and amplify employee donations to nonprofit organizations through our matching gift program.

Longstanding Partnership with United Way

Participation in Day of Caring is just one part of PRA Group’s enduring relationship with United Way of South Hampton Roads. Through frequent volunteer activations like Day of Caring and Day of Action, and our annual employee charitable giving campaign, PRA Group employees contribute to United Way’s mission of improving lives and strengthening communities.

“Our partnership with United Way is rooted in shared values of compassion, community and commitment,” said Jillian Talley, PRA Group manager of events and community engagement. “Day of Caring is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we give our time and energy to support our neighbors.”
